The Chicago Bears named Justin Fields their starting quarterback on Thursday, and the rookie is excited to get started.
The Chicago Bears named Justin Fields the starting quarterback for the 2019 NFL season on Monday. This is exciting news for Bears fans who have been waiting for a new quarterback since Jay Cutler retired in 2017. Read more in detail here: bears nfl.
After choosing Justin Fields in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears have sparked a quarterback controversy. During free agency, the club also signed veteran Andy Dalton to a one-year contract, and the discussion and debate between Dalton and Fields raged on for months.
Dalton was designated the starter, but he sustained an injury, allowing the Bears rookie to take over. Then, on Wednesday, it was revealed that Fields will be the team’s starting quarterback going forward, after Matt Nagy finally gave in and made the choice.
The Bears’ next opponent is the Las Vegas Raiders, so all eyes will be on Fields once again. After getting the news that he had been chosen the team’s starter, the rookie celebrated in an unusual way.
Matt Nagy has made his decision.

After months of deliberation, the Bears’ head coach has ultimately decided to go with the Ohio State product. With wins against the Cincinnati Bengals and the dismal Detroit Lions, Chicago has gotten off to a 2-2 start.
It came as a bit of a surprise, given Nagy’s repeated assurances that Dalton would return to starting responsibilities once he was fit again. Despite this, Dalton was at practice on Wednesday, the same day Nagy made his decision, and Nagy said that Fields is ready (h/t NFL.com’s Nick Shook).
“He’s gone above and above to demonstrate that he’s prepared for this chance.”
Fields did not throw a touchdown pass against the Lions, but he did build connection with his receivers, particularly Darnell Mooney, who had five catches for 125 yards to lead the club.
The Bears, on the other hand, will be missing running back David Montgomery for an extended length of time, but Fields taking over as the full-time starter could help the offense open up even more.
It finally occurred, and Nagy’s decision should be celebrated by all Bears fans.
Justin Fields’ one-of-a-kind celebration after landing the first job
Justin Fields’ parents are visiting from out of town and wanted to celebrate with him. Fields said that he needed to prepare for a game, so he remained at home and watched movies with his dog Uno. Without him, his parents went out to celebrate.

On Tuesday night, Fields learned he would be the starting pitcher. What exactly did he do?
He certainly did not rejoice. That much is obvious. His parents were in town and wanted to share the joy with their son, but the first-round selection had other plans.
Fields got straight to work breaking down video for the Raiders’ game, which won’t be easy given their 3-1 start to the season. Fields will get his chance to flourish in Chicago after months of dubious debate by the Bears coaching staff.
The youngster may relax a bit more now that he has the job, but he still needs to establish himself in the NFL and will be the center of attention moving forward.
Fields received the news and immediately went back to the drawing board to prepare for the game, which he won on Sunday to lift the Bears above.500.
The rookie Bears’ performance against the Raiders’ defense
The Raiders are one of the most surprising teams in the NFL in 2021. They went 3-0 with wins against the Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins, and Pittsburgh Steelers before losing on Monday Night Football to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Nonetheless, Gus Bradley, the new defensive coordinator in Vegas, has this team playing some fantastic defense. They’ve given up a lot of points thus far — an even 100 — but they’re a lot better than they were in 2020.
Fields, on the other hand, has been a mixed bag since taking over following Dalton’s injury. On the year, the youngster has a 25-of-52 passing percentage with 352 yards and 0 touchdowns, as well as two interceptions.
His first professional start was against the strong Cleveland Browns defense, and the Bears offense as a whole seemed stale that day. It looked better against the Lions, but then again, it is the Lions’ defense. Following the game against the Raiders, the Bears will play the Green Bay Packers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, putting Fields in a position to face three of the top teams in the league.
Now is the moment to see how capable the newbie is.
