The Celtics are finally ready to face off with Irving and the Nets after a long offseason. Boston is coming in at an injury-riddled start, but Smart says they’re ready for anything. The basketball star says he’s excited to see how differently this game will be played compared to last year when Irving had 26 points while on the floor.
Kyrie Irving and the Boston Celtics take on Marcus Smart and the Brooklyn Nets in a matchup of Eastern Conference’s top teams. The Celtics are looking to bounce back from their loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, while the Nets are trying to get back into playoff contention. This game is going to be one for bragging rights.
The Boston Celtics may be the only team that can be slowed down by a week off. Marcus Smart, a veteran point guard, does not believe this will be the case.
The Celtics have been the hottest club in the Eastern Conference over the previous three months, going 26-6. The Celtics haven’t played since securing the No. 2 seed in the conference with a win against the Memphis Grizzlies last Sunday.
On Sunday, the Boston Celtics take on the Brooklyn Nets in a best-of-seven series. “We’re absolutely ready,” Smart adds, despite the week off.

After such a poor start in Boston, the regular season has come to an unbelievable conclusion. The playoffs were a big question mark over the first 50 games. The club failed to establish consistency on both sides of the ball under first-year head coach Ime Udoka, and finished with a poor 25-25 record.
The Celtics have been unable to cling onto large leads late in games on multiple occasions. In a fit of rage, Smart publicly chastised teammates Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, claiming they never passed the ball.
After a humiliating defeat to the Chicago Bulls, he commented, “Every team knows we’re trying to go to Jayson and Jaylen.” “To stop Jayson and Jaylen, every squad has been prepared and researched. Everyone’s scouting report, I believe, is to make those guys pass the ball. They are adamant about not passing the ball.
“That’s something they’re going to pick up on.” They’re still figuring things out. We’re happy of their growth, but they’ll need to take it a step further and find methods to not just create for themselves, but also for others on the team to help them open up the court later in the game.”
With a win against the New Orleans Pelicans on Jan. 29, the Celtics started to put things together. The Celtics haven’t slowed down since that victory, which started a nine-game winning run.
After a lengthy vacation, Marcus Smart and the Boston Celtics are ready to play again.

It’s difficult for a team on a run to have to take a week off, but that’s exactly what the Celtics have done. Smart said that the squad is eager to get back into the swing of things. When Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, and the Brooklyn Nets visit town for Game 1 of their playoff series on Sunday, it will be a tough task.
Smart is looking forward to the task.
According to The Boston Herald, Smart said, “The enthusiasm is there.” “I can attest to the fact that the men on both sides are prepared. I’m sure, I know for a fact, that it’s preventing folks over here from sleeping, and I’m sure it’s the same for those guys.
“However, the playoffs, this time, and this stage are thrilling for everyone.” And all we want to do now is go out there and demonstrate that the hard work we’ve been putting in is paying off. As a result, we’re well prepared.”
The wait, according to Smart, is now over.
“It’s been enjoyable, but it’s been a long time.” “It’s been a long time,” he said. “Sometimes you simply have to wait so long to play that it’s a drag, but it’ll be here tomorrow and we’ll be able to play some games.”
Smart is looking forward to the task of defending Kyrie Irving.
Smart is well-versed in the work at hand. The Celtics are up against two of the league’s best scoring players in Irving and Durant. Smart is well aware that he will be hounding Irving, who is sure to be a problem.
“He’s a true magician with the ball,” Smart remarked after practice on Saturday, according to CLNS Media. “He makes a lot of what you’d call last-minute maneuvers.” You believe you’ve protected him, but he always manages to find a way out of whatever predicament he’s in.
“It’s a talent he has,” he said, “and it’s a gift that has shown to be beneficial for him.” “It’s just incredible to see him achieve those things in that regard.” Being able to play with him for as long as I did, learning things from him and observing how he plays, and vice versa, it’s always in the back of my mind.”
Irving isn’t the only one who poses a danger. Durant has the ability to spread the court and create matchup issues. Smart is well aware that it will not be simple. However, he is certain that Boston will be prepared.
“On every level, the way they score.” When you have players like that on the inside, outside, and mid-range, it’s impossible to play against them, and it always gives them a fighting chance,” he remarked. “We know how good those players are, and it’ll require a complete team effort to beat them.”
